Membership Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for membership in the Fund, you must be

  • Less than 60 years old
  • An employee of the TPS, and
  • Be actively at work

Applying for Membership

If you have been with the Toronto Police Service (TPS) for

  • Less than six months – Complete the Membership Application Form. There are no medical questions.

  • More than six months since hired? You can still join. In addition to the Membership Application Form, you are required to complete our Medical Questionnaire.

Membership in the Widows & Orphans Fund is affordable and very competitive. The rate of membership dues has not changed since 1952.

On approval of your membership, your dues rate will be locked-in at your nearest age.

Dues are paid through payroll deduction while you are an active employee.

When you retire, you no longer pay dues and will have lifetime coverage with the Fund’s paid-up death benefit.
